Spreadsheets are extremely powerful and versatile tools to handle numerical data from small ad hoc financial calculations to multipage elaborate financial statements. However, the spreadsheet's very flexibility can lead to hidden and hard to find errors. There are design principles that you can use to greatly increase the accuracy of your spreadsheets. The provided documents have been refined over many years of use in an Accounting Information Systems class. The Word document is the explanation of good design principles while the spreadsheet is the example that shows the bad and the good version of a simple spreadsheet.
